May-genta with Imagine

Hello! This month, Imagine chose Magenta (or MAY-genta) for the color of the month. I decided to keep my card clean, simple and monochromatic...with just a few touches of gold. I started off with some Bristol Paper and stamped beautiful border with Magenta VersaColor ink, and then I heat embossed it with Clear embossing powder. Next, I inked up my sentiment with Raspberry VersaColor to vary the shades a little, and I heat embossed that with Clear as well. I rubbed Angel Pink Memento ink across the entire piece, and this picked up the bit of texture that my paper has. I took a plain white card base and brushed on Lilac Posies Fireworks!, let it dry, and then applied Rose Bud Fireworks! in the same way. I didn't love the way the color of the Fireworks! looked next to the Magenta ink, so to break it up, I edged the top layer of my card with Golden Glitz Delicata ink. For just a little more sparkle and visual interest, I added a few sequins with On Point Glue. This glue is s

Dream Big: Imagine Collaboration with Joy Clair

Hello! The Artists in Residence for Imagine had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with Joy Clair. They sent us some fabulous stamps, and I really love them. The stamps have such beautiful details, and there are many many options within each set. I chose to work with the Dream Big Clear Stamp Set. It features a big dream catcher with feathers and beads that you can place as you wish.  It's linework is so fine, that I knew that VersaFine ink would be the perfect ink for these stamps. But first, I chose to spritz some Fireworks! on to my watercolor paper. I focused on keeping the color up where I would place the dream catcher later. After the Fireworks! dried, I inked up the hoop of the dream catcher and stamped it out. Then I "built" the rest of the dream catcher using the beads and feathers that are also in the set. It was so much fun to create the rest of the piece. After I was happy with the beads and feathers, I drew a "string" with a PITT pen

M is for Mom

Greetings! This month, the Artists in Residence are working with the theme, "M is for..." so I decided to go with M is for Mom. Mother's Day is almost here, and my mom (thankfully) loves to get my homemade cards, so I figured I'd make a card that was very well suited to her. My mom loves all things steampunked. She is so cool. She loves texture and neutrals and gears...and well, all the stuff I put on this card! I started off with the Gears Stencil and the Vintage Creative Medium and let that speak t me about what to do next. I knew the Vertigo would be a fun way to spell out Mom, and inking it up with StazOn helped it to stand out more. I didn't ink the Vertigo completely, but varied the amount of ink I used on the letters to give some more visual interest. I used assorted shaded of brown ink, some ultra fine glitter and Fireworks! Spray for some shine. Supplies: Imagine : Vertigo in Tilted StazOn in Spiced Chai Creative Medium in Vintage Firework

Blended Heart

Hello! This month, the Artists in Residence of Imagine are sharing different ways to blend their fantastic products. I adore the chalky, lovely colors of VersaMagic, so that's what I wanted to highlight in this tutorial. I started by taping my stencil down only on the left side, so that the tape created a hinge. This way I can check my work as I go along. I chose the colors I wanted to use and I started with the lightest shade, which in this case is Key Lime. I do this because, as I begin to blend the colors, I won't dirty up the lighter ink pads with the darker colors. I used a sponge dauber to ink up the outer edge of the heart. A quick check to make sure I like how it looks, and then I used Thatched Straw. Since VersaMagic stays wet for a while, it is quite easy to blend the colors. I take each shade out a little further that I want it to show, so that I have room to overlap the colors. Next, I used Pink Grapefruit, followed by Red Brick. Even though t
